Workshops – Online with Zoom
Write Around the World
(Amherst Writers & Artists Method)
In February I’ll be offering three workshops where we write to together online in support of AWA. Pay-what-you-can $14 to $40. These sessions raise funds to support scholarships for writers in the AWA Method. (https://amherstwriters.org/write-around-the-world/#!calendar/r)
Feb 3 7:00-9:00 pm EST. “Hermits & Flash”. – Try your hand at Hermit Crab essays and Flash Fiction/Nonfiction. Writing to prompts in the Amherst method lends itself well to these short forms. We’ll look at examples and write to prompts that will steer our muse in those directions. Who knows where we’ll end up? There will be an opportunity to share your writing with the group and get supportive feedback about what’s working! Whatever happens, it’s sure to be fun!
Feb. 5 7:00- 9:00 pm EST Muse and Memoir. – Join us to write from your memories and life. Humans are meaning-making creatures. Look for themes in your life while we make meaning from experience. As we write to prompts geared to support creative reflection, we may discover what we didn’t know we knew! This workshop is geared to source the threads to weave a longer memoir. You are the only one who can tell your story.
Feb. 9. 7:00 – 9:00 pm EST Focus on Fiction – Writing to prompts geared toward enlivening your imagination, we will write fictional characters and scenes. You will practice using stories from your life and from your imagination to create engaging story lines and scenes for possible later expansion. Supportive feedback will be given by the group and facilitator about what is strong and working in your writing. Get your story on the page!

Writing with Carol is relaxed and feels safe. She brings out the best in me and I am constantly surprised by what comes off the end of my pen. At first I had misgivings about writing online. It seems like something that is best done face to face and in person but the experience was surprisingly intimate, especially considering that I was able to do it from the comfort of my own home.
